What is a Little Box of Books?

A Little Box of Books is a box of great children’s books delivered to your doorstep every month. You choose your subscription package, one-off gift box order or big box order and we do the rest.

How does it work?

Choose a subscription or gift package based on the age of the child you are buying books for, answer a few simple questions, fill in your details and you will get a selection of books carefully curated, delivered to your door every month.

How are books chosen?

Based on the details you give us and in discussion with a selection of experts, other parents, publishers, authors we select books that fit our ethos. Representative, gender equal, featuring under represented voices as main characters.

Not every book will include every element but over time your bookshelf will be an inclusive happy place.

Who runs Little Box of Books?

Lynsey – Avid book reader and book buyer who has worked a lot in media in TV and then later as a humanitarian and charity communicator. Careerwise, a bit like Mr Benn.

Neil – The techy brains behind Little Box of Books, the attention to detail, money manager and the IT support guy.

Why we setup Little Box of Books

We set up Little Box of Books when we couldn’t find our blended family in books. We wanted to see stepdads in books, incidental to the storyline but visible, reflecting our normal. We started to look at the content of children’s books more generally, thinking about gender equality, diversity and representation and then formulated our plan.

Now we curate collections of books so that more children can see themselves in the stories that they read. We find representative, inclusive, brilliant books from a diverse range of authors. If you want to be part of it please give us a shout at [email protected].

How do you get hold of us?

Please email us at [email protected] or fill in the feedback form and we will get back to you within 24 hours.

My books haven’t arrived

Your Little Box of Books will be posted out on the 2nd Thursday of the month and should arrive within 5 days of that date. If it hasn’t arrived within 10 days please give us a shout at [email protected] and we will track them down.

What happens if my books are returned to sender

Sometimes things happen and you don’t get to the Post Office in time and your box is returned to the sender, which is us. We are a very small business and have tight margins, so if your parcel isn’t called for and is returned to us, we will resend, but for a postage fee of £3 payable via paypal link, paypal.me/LittleBoxofBooks or you can get in touch and request our bank details. If we’ve still got your box one month after receiving it back in the post, we will donate your books to the amazing charity, Doorstep Library who read with children in some of the most disadvantaged parts of London.

My books are damaged

We’re really sorry about that. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] and we will get that sorted as quickly as possible.

I don’t like my books

We want everybody to be happy with their Little Box of Books, so let’s have a chat and see if we can work things out. Email [email protected].

What do I do if I already have one of the books?

We choose really new books, hot off the press, so this is unlikely to happen. BUT, we do know that lots of you are massive book fans so you might get a duplicate. If this happens, gift it, share the joy of wonderfully diverse books or get in touch with us at [email protected] and we’ll try and help you out.
